Review:

I first heard about Battle Royale when I recommended The Hunger Games to a friend. They said The Hunger Games is a rip-off of Battle Royale. I totally disagree with that! I think the only similarity is that teenagers kill each other and the one who will survive will become the winner. That's it! Okay, I don't mean to compare the two but these days when you talk about The Hunger Games, Battle Royale will be mentioned.

I didn't expect that I will like Battle Royale very much. Although there are lots of gore and violence (so warning! This book is not for the faint-hearted), the novel still able to dwell deeper on the story of the major characters and their effects on the novel as a whole. I salute the author for bravely telling us of a story like this. The book is not all about killing but more on how people naturally react when in danger or there are threats, and how one can trust other people to survive. Also, it tells how a certain kind of government, such as the Republic of Greater East Asia in the book, can affect people's lives and how they make decisions in their lives.

Battle Royale is such a thrilling read! I recommend this book to those who want to read a darker and bolder book about teens killing each other, a cruel government, and how to survive the inevitable.

P.S.

I don't want to compare the two books like the others because just like what Mr. Takami said, "every novel has something to offer," and that if  "readers find value in either book, that's all an author can ask for." And I love both books! :)

Review:

I didn't expect that I'll enjoy Raven's Gate. Thought it's just another paranormal young adult book.

The book is about 14-year old Matt. He is an orphan and he lives with his aunt. His life with the aunt is quite miserable. Because of that, he gets involved in a crime he didn't really intend to commit. That begins his life with a weird old lady who will never lets him out of her sight. His true identity will be revealed and adventures to keep himself alive and free starts.

The book is fast-paced. Just by reading a few pages of the first chapter will get you hooked. I think it's because of Mr. Horowitz' story telling. The book is very engaging and thrilling! When I bought the book a year ago, I wasn't expecting for it to be this good. The plot is unique and the characters are well developed. And oh, the mystery will really keep you reading. I have a soft spot for mystery, suspense and supernatural.

Raven's Gate is such a good read. Very engaging and will definitely make you want to read more of this series! :)

Review:

The last book of the Iron Fey series. I was so excited to read this because I loved the previous books. And I'm glad to have finally read it. Of course courtesy of NetGalley! :)

The Iron Knight started where the Summer's Crossing left off. So I suggest you read Summer's Crossing first. The book is in Ash POV so I expected it to be interesting. The story is about Ash's quest to become mortal so that he can honor his vow to Meghan - and that's to be with her in the Iron Realm. It's kinda slow at first but as the story went it will keep you interested.

This final installment of the series will not disappoint you. It's kinda refreshing to have Ash's point of view. In the previous books, we saw him as a quiet guy who would always keep his feelings to protect himself. In this book, you'd know his true feelings and his true identity. Also, I like Grim and the Big Bad Wolf's bickering! They really entertained me a lot in this book! 

I was surprised with the twist! I don't want to be a spoiler. I just didn't see that coming. Initially, I thought that revelation will complicate things. But there's a purpose why it happened. I'm not that satisfied with the ending! I want more!

I'd still say The Iron Knight is a really good ending for the series. Ms. Kagawa was able to capture us with this Faery series. Thank you and We want more right??

Review:

I was hesitant to read Summer's Crossing at first. Not because I don't want to read it but I was just too excited to start The Iron Knight. Well, good that I read this first. I didn't know it's in Puck's POV which you would expect to be fun.

Summer's Crossing is a short story about Puck and Ash's adventure to the Summer court. Ash has to keep the other side of the bargain so he's forced to go to Arcadia with Puck's help. However, Puck has to face a difficult decision whether to betray his friend or help him get through.

I think I liked this more than the other short novella. Of course because of Puck! I like witty and fun lines, and adventure that will keep me entertained. This short story gave me that. I'm guessing the purpose of this is for us to get to know Robin Goodfellow more and to let us know that even though the two are frenemies they would always be good friends!

Review:

After two weeks, I finally finished this. This has been a great read. I think I liked that I have to read it that long since I'll miss Raphael and Elena's tandem. I've been busy in school these days so I can't really read a lot. But of course, I'll always find the time to read.

I think this is also a favorite of mine from the series. I really love the story of the first book where we get to witness how the romance between Raphael and Elena took place. This time, you'll find out how strong Raphael and Elena's bond with each other.

The two have returned home. In this book, new evil has emerged and attacked innocent little girls and a bunch of vampires. Also, calamities have been occurring all over the world - a sign that an ancient immortal or a Sleeper is waking. Together the two will try to stop the madness of the powerful Caliane. And Raphael faced a difficult decision whether to kill the Sleeper or not.

Whenever I read Nalini Singh's books, I'm always surprised. There's always something interesting to read about! I really liked the story of this third book in the series. There's more depth to the story especially about the main characters. I always forget to mention that I really admire whenever Elena is hunting and when she's describing the scents. The descriptions are really engaging that I also want to smell the scents. The development of Elena and Raphael's relationship is even more intense. Thus, Elena being Raphael's consort. I liked how the author made their relationship. There's teasing and humor but you'll know how affectionate they are with each other.

I'm really curious about Illium's past. So now I'm confused if I want more Raphael or more Illium. Oh Bluebell! I really want to know what happened to you! I'm wishing the fourth book will be more about you. Well I'm a bit disappointed because it isn't. I'll watch out for the coming books then!

Archangel's Consort is a one great read! If I have the time, I'll be happy to reread this in one sitting. :)

PASSIONATELY AWESOME! I was asking myself why I didn't read this one first before those YA books which I didn't really enjoyed that much. I should have trusted my instincts! Enough of that. I finally finished it and it's oh so good! I think that is an understatement. The book is amazing! : )

We have a kick ass heroine named Elena Deveraux who is a hunter-born. She's a guild hunter and has this great ability of sensing vampires. She is hired by the Archangel of New York, Raphael, who's oozingly hot (I love his wings). Together they have to track and kill this archangel on the loose killing people. But it turns out that Elena will also be haunted by her own seductive thoughts of Raphael.

I very much liked the story about angels, vampires and humans that coexist. This is the first adult angel book I've read and I wasn't disappointed. The book is a combination of fantasy, suspense, mystery and romance. So what else could you ask for? The characters are amazing! I sometimes like Elena's stubbornness especially when she's with Raphael. I've always liked strong female characters and that's a plus factor why I really liked this book. And oh, Raphael. Why do angels always have to be so beautiful? The vampires are not what you would expect them to be. They are made by angels. And you can apply to be made a vampire! How does that sound?

It's also my first time to read Nalini Singh's book. I think I have a new favorite author. I love her writing in this book. It's impressive with a little mystery to it. That's why I didn't see the last part coming. I was so surprised that I literally giggled and my brother's saying I'm crazy. The book is filled with intense emotions and sexual tensions that build the sex scenes very well. The plot is detailed. This is not your typical angel story.

Angels' Blood is a very impressive read that will certainly fill your fantasies! I have to read the next book! Can't get enough of Elena and Raphael and the story! : )

This book is a breath of fresh air! I haven't read young adult contemporary books in a while so I'm happy that I decided to read this!

Anna is sent to a boarding school in Paris by her parents. It is her senior year, she feels disappointed because she will leave her best friend in Atlanta and a guy who she thinks is interested with her. She meets this handsome Parisian guy - Etienne St. Claire(love the name!) with a British accent and humor you will surely love. Little does she know, that her stay in Paris is truly worthwhile.

I'm totally thrilled with this book! You can probably feel my excitement to review it. The book is simply adorable. I can't seem to find the right words to describe it. The story can be a typical one where a girl-loves-boy-with-a-girlfriend. I love the love story in it. The characters are real. I mean, they are described just as believable as a live person. The setting of course is my favorite. One of the many reasons I like to read this book is because I'd love to go to Paris someday. I learned some French words as well.

The romance part is wonderfully written. I got addicted to the way the author described their relationship and how it was developed. The love story is not the one you will get tired of. I didn't even want the book to end! I want more! There were moments that I just want to squeal and moments that I was smiling while reading the book. That sounds crazy, but this book really made me feel good that someone loves and adores me.

I consider Anna and the French Kiss as one of the best contemporary books I read so far. This book is highly recommended! Go grab it! ♥

Review:

I'm not sure whether to rate it 5 or not. That's after I read it. Then I scanned through the pages again, just then I decided I would rate it 5!

It took almost three weeks, if I'm not mistaken, before I finished The Iron Queen (busy schedule and I have to read in front of the computer! Kindle, I need you now! :). I really anticipated to read this third book of the series because I loved how it ended on the second book.

The book started just after the end of The Iron Daughter. Meghan wants to visit her family after she and Ash are banished from Nevernever. Just then they are attacked by the Iron feys. The false Iron King is after her.

The Iron Queen is full of action and adventure with a bit of romance that will definitely make you swoon. I admit Meghan improved a lot in this book. She's not the most selfish girl anymore. Most probably because she's the only chance of Nevernever to defeat the false king. As always, Ash is incredible. I wonder if there's a real guy like him in this world. I don't know, but I missed the old Puck and his humor. He's still the same here, but I'm not sure, there's something lacking about him. I'm glad Grimalkin is still in the picture. That cat is so adorable.

I thought of rating it just four. However, the last part and the ending was really something you should look forward to. The author is really good on cliffhangers at the end. She's just great writing the ending of her books.

If you're a fan of Faery books, this series would be a great read for you!

"That's it???"

Those were my words after reading the last sentence of the epilogue. That means I want more! :)

In this one we have Kate facing another dilemma again with the shapeshifters as the target. Kate will fight not only one but more or less eight enemies. Worst, she will be fighting a family.

I was really impressed on how the story goes. Although every book of the series deals with different adventures, the series never failed to enthrall me.

At first I was disappointed (I don't want to mention why because it would already be a spoiler! :), but later on the development of Kate and Curran's relationship is amazing. The book's overall humor is quite impressive and the fighting scenes are full of action and suspense. I don't know how Kate can survive all of those. She is incredible!

I want more of her adventures, so I checked if there's a sequel. Good thing there's more! Magic Slays will be published this coming March. I can't wait!

Review:

The best book so far among the series. I can't find the right word to describe it. Let's just say, it really struck me. It was very impressive. Thanks to Ms. Tina and Chachic who made very convincing reviews of the books in the series!

I guess this would be my favorite urban fantasy series now because of this third book. The series gets better as it went through the paranormal adventures of Kate Daniels. Just like my reviews of the other books, I really adored Kate Daniels personality. This time she had to save Derek from death and kill the ever nasty Reapers.

I don't really want to spoil. However this one had a really good story. It was action-packed and would keep you from the edge of your seat. Too bad I didn't finish it right away than I had expected because of my busy schedule. Although it was not a constant read, it never failed to amaze me.

My favorite parts of course were Kate and Curran's sweet and humorous conversations. I think the scenes were quaint, the fact that the book was written by the collaboration of husband and wife authors (the author's name was their pseudonym). I can't wait for the naked dinner!

My first reaction after reading the last word from the book — Relieved, then I smiled. It’s like a roller coaster ride when I started reading the Millennium Trilogy. I think it has been a month before I started reading the final book. 

The book started at the hospital where Lisbeth Salander and Zalachenko have been rescued. I thought Lisbeth would really suffer a great damage. Good thing the author had pity so he didn’t add a great deal of suffering anymore. The story merely evolved on how this organization called The Section keep their name hidden. They will do everything to protect their organization. That includes killing people. Of course, Mikael Blomkvist is to the rescue. I wouldn’t spoil any further. Just wanna inform you people that bastards were killed. Bravo. 

Some people don’t really like the concept or the story behind this trilogy. Mainly it discussed women’s rights in the society, not only where the story had taken place but also around the world. Most probably, that’s the reason the trilogy became phenomenal. Personally, the story was not easy to read. It took a lot of time and I had to deal with some crucial parts that include sexual molestation. However, it’s very engaging and as I mentioned on my previous reviews, Lisbeth Salander is one of my favorite heroine. 

I’m happy that the book ended well. This series is one of a kind and one of my favorites.

The Girl Who Played with Fire was a page turner! You wanna know what will happen next after you read a page. I think I have a soft spot with mystery suspense novels like this. Especially with a heroine that you will love and hate at the same time. Sometimes I want to be like Lisbeth Salander. She can’t easily trust people and that’s what keeping her invulnerable.

Review:

I'm not sure if I liked it as much as the first one. However, this sequel in The Iron Fey series is full of adventure and a little romance.

Perhaps I really anticipated reading the next book because I really loved the first one. In this book, Megan was already trapped in Tir Na Nog and missed Ash terribly. Of course she had to keep the other side of their bargain. Ever since they arrived there, she hadn't seen Ash anymore until she was summoned by the Winter queen. There were lots of revelations here. The other two princes of the Winter's side were also introduced - Sage and Rowan. Sage's character, although short-lived, was described as awesome as Ash. Rowan was a bad ass, you'll know why. I thought Grim was already out of the picture. I liked his character and dialogues. It made me happy when he was included again. I didn't expect Ironhorse to be included in their action-packed adventure.

The romance part, which reminded me of Twilight (~coughs here~), was the spice of the story. I really hate Megan for taking Puck for granted. Duh! Puck, you don't deserve someone like her. Megan was selfish, sometimes idiot and didn't seem to give importance to Puck's feelings for her. She said she loved him but of course that was only as a friend. Ash was the love of her life. Fine.

I didn't quite understand how she became the iron daughter. It was not given that much emphasis but I thought it was just an introduction for the story for the next book which is The Iron Queen.

My favorite part was the ending! Wow! That's just awesome. The idea of Megan and Ash together at last is adorable. I got so excited and I couldn't wait for the next book.
